Weekly Rewind: 11/1/10 "The Metronome" Celebrating the Life of Dwayne "PartySpree" Nelson

On November 1, 2010 MelloMondays participated in an event known as The Metronome...

"On the morning of Saturday October 16th Miami's entertainment industry lost one of its key figures in event marketing, and an up and coming artist. Dwayne Nelson co-founder of partyspree.com, one of the Caribbean and Urban community's premier entertainment sites lost his life tragically while on a trip to Jamaica.

On MONDAY November 1st 8pm to 2am members of the South Florida Entertainment industry have decided to honor Dwayne's family, his work and dedication to the industry. 4 VENUES have been chosen in DOWNTOWN HOLLYWOOD;

> SOTOROS - 2050 HOLLYWOOD BLVD
> SOSTA - 1885 HOLLYWOOD BLVD
> BLUSTERS - 115 21ST AVENUE

Patrons will be invited to experience elements of Dwayne's career and life, be it spoken word, poetry, music, or just networking and hang out with friends. A countless numbers of promoters, d.j's, poets, singers, and patrons alike have committed to this tribute as a way of us saying thank you to one of our fallen soldiers."

That night we collected donations from partygoers, as well as made a donation of $5 from each MelloMondays patron's admission cost for the fundraiser set up for Dwayne's family. The event was a great success and received a lot of buzz on many social networking sites, including facebook:

The turnout was great, and people showed up to show their respect. We were reminded that we can come together and support one another in the worst of times.
