"In Da House" - Interview with RacQ Dolo 1/10/11

RacQ Dolo chillin before her performance

We had some time to catch up with our gorgeous and talented feature, RacQ Dolo, and ask her a few questions to get to know her a little better. Check the mini-interview:

MM: MelloMondays, RD: RacQ Dolo

MM: Where are you from?
RD: I was born and raised in New Jersey. Moved to Miami with my familiy four years ago.

Hangin out with MelloMondays' own Louie Knuckles

MM: I know you're an islander, so you fit right in. In fact, you're a unique combination - Haitian and Filipino. We were trying to guess earlier, but we're just going to ask: Which parent is what? Who's Haitian, and who's Filipino?
RD: (laughs) My mom is Haitian & dad is Filipino.

MM: Wow, we guessed the opposite. Nice. So, how did you hear about MelloMondays, what brought you out?
RD: Tonight is my first time. A promoter introduced me to people at MelloMondays - Louie, etc - when I performed at the Wednesday night open mic at Play [nightclub on South Beach].

MM: How did you get into music?
RD: Music is big in my family. My parents met in college, in the Gospel band. My dad plays the piano, guitar...every instrument. And he sings. My mom sings as well.

MM: So you got your talent from your parents?
RD: Yes. My whol family is into music. My brother sings and plays the drums, and my two sisters sing. We spend time together as a family, gathered around my father at the piano, everyone singing.

MM: What was your favorite part of tonight?
RD: Everything, the whole vibe - the name speaks for itself [MelloMondays]. Also, I love that people have the courage to go up for open mic.

MM: Okay, now let's get into some fun, random questions. First, if you couldn't sing, what would be your second path in life?
RD: Acting.

MM: Would you do film, plays, or TV?
RD: I would do it all.

MM: Lastly, what do ou feel is your most attractive feature?
RD: Ooohhh, I'm very modest! I don't like that question!

MM: (laughs) Okay, thanks so much for giving us the opportunity to talk to you. You had an amazing performance tonight.
